Reputable Roofing

HailStrike serves various local and commercial roofing clients who aim to be honest, trustworthy and professional. There are some storm chasers who move from town to town scamming those they do “business” with. Customers have been warned about these out of state, unreliable storm chasers who are on the prowl for a good scam and leave the scene about as quickly as the sun rises and sets. We would like to offer our clientele 10 tips that will set themselves apart from these scam artist who are sweeping the nation.

1. Dress professionally. After a storm has hit and damage has been done, customers are on guard to prevent damage to their bank accounts. In order to show your professionalism and trustworthiness, make sure your team members are dressed professionally. A kempt appearance with perhaps a polo shirt with your company’s logo could be the factor that makes a sale.

2. Do not come across as pushy when signing papers with your customers. Scam artist have customers wave their rights to any decisions regarding repairs or replacement. Make the customer feel comfortable and allow them to make decisions as you help guide them through the process.

3. Do not cut corners by using low quality materials, leaving your customers with repairs in the near future. Although you may think you are increasing your profit, you are most likely hurting business when you follow malicious practices like this. When customers have lasting satisfaction in your work, they are more likely to refer you or use your services again in the future. Using quality and reliable products with quality work is essential for growing your business.

4. Do not use high pressure sales tactics. Make the customers feel like their best interests are being considered and they are being cared for by your services.

5. Hire experienced roofing supervisors that have been thoroughly trained in customer services. These people are the face of your company.

6. Show them recent references from other local satisfied customers. You might also provide supplier references in order to show your business relations. This may alleviate any concern that a lien might be placed on their home by the supplier.

7. Have proof of manufacturer certifications to prove that you are a legitimate contractor. Reputable companies are members of roofing association who hold their members to a high standard. You may become a member of the National Roofing Contractors Association at http://www.nrca.net/join/.

8. Produce a roofing license and certificate of insurance with the same identification number. Your insurance needs to be up to date and must cover any accidents  that may occur on site.

9. Provide a roofing contractor’s and a manufacturer’s warranty in writing.

10. Finally, check your ratings and complaints online to see how you can improve your business. The better your ratings are, the more likely your customer will feel comfortable with higher prices. You can often find these ratings through your local Better Business Bureau website. You may even want to provide a comment section on your website where customers may email suggestions or praise your services. You can use some of your top praises for your reference sheet (#5). Remember, they are not only paying for their roof, but they are also paying for trustworthy quality service. And frankly, that is priceless these days.

Southern Tide

Hail is sweeping over the South like a tidal wave. There were 188 reports today, and only 11 of those reports were located in a few mid-central states. The majority of the storm front centered itself between Memphis, Nashville, Atlanta and Birmingham, as well as a few business districts near Pulaski along with some folks out in the country in surrounding areas. We encourage our roofers and insurance adjusters to not forget our country folk clientele, especially in the heartland of country music. Order HailStrike today and check out our storm paths that will direct you to buildings that have been affected by hail.

Humbug! Humbolt, Nebraska Hit by Hail

Today there were 106 reports of hail. As various storms systems swept the continental United States, three locations, including Hombolt, Nebraska, were hit by hail up to 2.5 inches in diameter. More significant storm fronts hit the Crawford area, in-between Amarillo, Texas and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, measuring up to 4.5 inches in diameter. That’s right folks, we are talking about softball sized hail. So, let HailStrike “take you out to the ball game.” Areas of interest for roofers and adjusters may be near Witchita, Kansas; Nebraska City, Nebraska; and Canadian, Texas. The Sky is Falling!

Today is a very quiet day and since there are no reports of any major storm fronts, I will tell you a story about the biggest storm I have personally encountered.

The year was 1995 in a small West Texas town. There was a strong thunderstorm that prevented us from taking a friend home, but the storm quieted and we took the window of opportunity to load up in our van and hit the road. What we didn’t know was that this window of opportunity is what most people phrase “the calm before the storm.” A few blocks from my home the wind began to whip around the van, and hail pounded the sheets of metal that made us practically flinch with each ding. We could hardly see a foot in front of us and panic began to set in as we heard the tornado sirens scream their warning. I am not sure how my mother found the small church carport, but we pulled under and braced ourselves as the van rocked back and forth. The minutes crept by and the wild storm turned into a dribble.

We drove my friend home and saw minimal damage. As we turned back towards our neighborhood it was as if a wall was built and the destruction began. These were the streets where the sky met the ground through a tornado and with no apprehensions toward what laid in its path. As we turned the corner to my street our neighbor’s tree had forfeited to the storm and became a road block. Hail was piled about a foot against one side of our home, windows were busted out, and trees were stripped from their clothing of leaves. Although we were without electricity for a few days, we were not without support. Neighbors helped neighbors board windows, chainsaw uprooted trees, and our neighborhood came together and had a large cookout to prevent the meat in our freezers from going bad.

Here is why I see this story as significant toward your business. In 1995, roofers, insurance adjusters and the like did not have storm paths at their finger tips. They spent a significant amount of time doing their own research and plotting. It took quite a while before they could hit the streets that had major damage. I remember the process being frustrating for my family. Now the process no longer has to be frustrating for you or for your customers.
